settling in

would anybody be able to tell me how long it takes for the water and sand to settle in a tank any info would be appreciated thanks a lot

by settle do you mean to the bottom? Do you know anything about cycling? I didn't when I started out and my lfs guy told me that the tank needed to settle for 24 hours before I added fish. This was way wrong. You need to develop a biological filter before you add fish.

is this an established tank that you've added sand to or a new tank?

or if you mean settle as in the tank is all cloudy after adding sand....

it will usually settle in about 24 hours. the larger the grain size of the sand the faster it will settle and the better you washed it the faster the cloudiness will go away. 3 days max, 1 day probability though

yeah its a new tank just a little one though. i know how to set a tank up it was just the cloudiness really as my other tanks have been done with gravel

Did you wash your sand? mine was only cloudy for about ten minutes
