Hi all.

Got my new tank in position today (160L). And my new Eheim 2213 Plus filter turned up today as well.

I've been told that I could possibly use the media from my old tank (Juwel Rekord 60L). I tried to put some of the spare sponges I have into the Eheim, and I'd say there about 10-15% smaller than the actual Eheim ones. Would they still be OK to use, if I add the extra media I got with the Eheim (ceramic rings and bio balls)?

I was hoping to pretty much do a straight swap, obviously using the water from the Juwel and topping it up with more conditioned water.

Cheers.

You should definitely use whatever will fit from the old filter, as long as you feel you are getting a good mechanical filtration layout (not too much space for water to bypass your media).

If you want to use the mature media and simply fill the empty spaces with the rings and such that you have new, go for it. It will give you a huge head start on a cycled filter.
