setting up my 47 and preparing for a betta

??? i cycle my tanks
@Unicornblast5000 do you mean you're not cycling your tanks, exposing fishes to ammonia and nitrites ??
ohhh i think when op said "set up" they probably meant "stock the tank"
I will probably get 6, 5 in the 47, 1 in the 10 (betta tank)
Hmm, last time i went to my LPS they only had gold... I'll look, though, ty!
once your tank has been running for a while and everything is covered with algae, get nerite snails, they're a little pesky with their eggs but i do not have to do anything to mine, they just eat algae/diatoms
.

i came back with what i didn't mean to come back with:

2021-06-01 (4).jpeg
a baby (female?) BNP, Mango (@PlasticGalaxy, Mango is cuter than Gobbolino IMO rotfl )

2021-06-01 (1).jpeg
8 more Silvertips (I think)

2021-06-01.jpeg
sharks that I might return bc I did not realize they got so BIG (my younger brother named the sharky, bob, and jerry)

me: worried about a snail

pleco: PHOTOBOMB!!

is the snail ok, though?

I actually think that's a common plec. Baby bristlenoses are only around an inch long, and this one looks well within the 3 inch range. As you know, they can get up to 60cm in length and have a huge bioload. Will eventually outgrow their tanks and would be better of in a tank that's at least 75 gallons.

As for the sharks, they're unmistakably bala sharks. also known as silver sharks. They can get up to 35cm and need to be kept in schools. You're better off returning them, as they will quickly outgrow their tank and need some tank more like a pond than any regular aquarium.

Snails can be timid at first and tend to get startled when dropped into new tanks so suddenly. I'd say it'll be just fine.

Imo I'd just return the plec and all the sharks. If you're able to, buy from a more reputable chain. I'm assuming they gave you no warning for the sharks, and not properly labelling their fish, from the case of the pleco, wouldn't buy from there if I were you. If they're happy to sack three bala sharks and a common plec on a 13 year old with no advice at all, they probably don't deserve your money.

Agreed, I'd return the plec and sharks ASAP....

this is a good price for a tank, right? https://boston.craigslist.org/sob/for/d/randolph-125-gallon-fish-tank/7329364623.html

good to know

looking at common vs BN pleco's, Mango does look like more of a teen/young adult BN, but there was (in the same tank) the same type of pleco that was 6" long at least, albino BN'S only get 4", right? there was one at my LPS

the sort of did, the man there said "i hope you have a big tank for the sharks!"

big OOF to my LPS

Mango is so cute! The sharks are lovely too. I think I agree with the above, the best for the fish would be to take them back:-( looking at your plec vs my bristlenose plec, yours has a more “marbled” patterning than I’ve ever seen a BN

Oh, the snail is fine, it probably just landed on its back diving off the top of the tank, I’ve heard mystery snails like to do that. If he can’t get himself back upright, you can just help him (pick him up and set him upright)
