Hey all,

Im wanting to set up a breeding pair of dwarf neon gouramis and need some help with the water,

I've been looking at softening equipment and found these:

magnets

would they work?

Other options are using the canister(£££) or can i use a powder/buffer.

Aparently they work well on household pipes to reduce water hardness so i don't see why they wouldn't.

Would ask LFS for further info though!

Do gouramis live in softwater because i have bogwood in all my gourami tanks?

What's your pH at now? unless it's really hard or really soft i wouldn't be tampering with it

Whats your PH reading?

Why not try adding bogwood as this ill naturally help lower the PH
Why do people say this is there actually any proof. I added a peice to my main tank the the PH reading went up!

7.6 I had success in gourmis mating!
I currently House the babies in my main tank reading at about 6.5 PH with no problems at all

I wouldn't say PH is crucial depending what you have anywhere in the range of 6.5-8 I would think they would breed no issues at all but remember they really like it hot when they get wild! 82F if at all possible! The babies don't like PH swings and definitly don't like temp changes that are drastic!

Hav'nt been on for a long time well my local ph is 7.

In the gourami tank it's 6.5
