Setting Up A Breeding Tank. Which Plecs Though?

hmmm... were they bright yellow and black?

I'm tempted to say they look like "butterfly Plecs" L168 or L52 I think

Get some pics side on and coloured up - side on will quickly rule out my possible ID as they are very flat looking and L134's arnt

not bright yellow, but a lot more bright than they are in my pic

looking at the L052 pics i think id agree, they look more like these than the L134's. Much flatter, with the bristles on the fins and down the body

gutted, looks like ive been sold wrongly advertised fish once again although they do look lovely regardless

will get some better pics on here tonight

yep, they're definitely not L134.

I'd be tempted to ring the shop if you're not happy with them.

to be honest i think they are lovely fish, but the whole point of me buying a colony is to try and breed them and i am not sure how easy the L052/168 are to breed and i havnt a clue how to sex them

they worked out at £13.30 each, i bought 6 to try and get a mix of male/female. dont have a clue if thats a good price or not

planet catfish says that L052 can be bread in home tanks but the L168 is unreported. guess i really need to find out for definate which i have

ive spent the last hour or so compareing my pics with the pics of both L052 & L168 from planet catfish.

in my opinion the ones i have are L056, reasoning for this is that the L168 seem to have more of a stripe pattern untill the head where as the L056 seem to have more of a random pattern if that makes sense

your placing too much on what other people have done and not putting enough faith in yourself

with the right setup I'm confident you'll get them breeding, whatever they are...

Then you can document it and feel somewhat special

i have no faith in myself as ive yet to breed any type of fish, apart from cold water fish in my outdoor pond and you just kinda leave them too it lol

im determined to give them a go and be succesfull at breeding them, then i can sell them back to the LFS i bought them from and get them to advertise them correctly
