Firstly, welcome to the forum, I'm a relative newby myself. :)

A 6 gallon tank is very small, therefore you're limiting yourself a lot. I'd say your best bet would be a Betta?

Of course, you'll need to cycle the tank first, without fish. Check out the beginners resource centre in the main page for loads of advice on how to do this.

And don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

A betta OR 5 male endlers.
You could add some shrimp or a large snail in with either of the above options. Yep, make sure you do a fishless cycle as suggested!

maybe a small black kuhli loach that grows to be 4 inches and some small cory cats maybe ask at petsmart or wherever u are purchasing your fish not that im reccomending petsmart

I'm sorry aquagirl but that is a very bad recommendation. None of those fish a suitable.

why do you think those are bad recommendations just asking
both cory catfish and loaches are schooling fish, and both do well in groups of at least 6. Kuhlis need much larger groups to be active. The tank is much too small for them. Not to mention they're both very active species during the night.

Being a petsmart employee, I can tell you that most of my co workers are dimwits. I'm the only one who even owns a tropical aquarium. Try to do your own research, don't talk to your LFS all the time for advice.

I agree with almostawesome's reccomendations. Either a male betta or 5 endlers seem like a good choice. some species of microrasboras can be suitable, but they can also be rather fragile. 6 gallons does not give you much to work with, though.
