I have 9 serpae's. Are there many other owners of serpae's out there. If so discuss some of your experience with them.

I find they are quite agressive fish amoungst themselves. Loads of little fights where they circle around each other. Work well with tigers barbs. I have a few bright in color, and a few that are a little darker. The two that have been fighting a lot latley their colors seem to be darker. I read that during stress their colors will darken. When hungry they tend to get even more aggressive. I noticed that their fins are quite torn up, not sure if this is because of the fighting or if its fin rot. Pretty sure its not fin rot because none of my other fish have similar problems and the serpaes don't bother anyone else but themselves.

So far thats my experience with them. Just interested to see what other people have experienced when keeping serpaes.

I noticed the exact same thing when I used to keep them  They were quite aggressive and got redder when they were aggitated. They can really hold their own. The longer fin version of this fish fins tend to get ripped up. If you get the shorter fined ones they seem to be ok. Overall, though a very interesting tetra.

I really enjoy the shorter fined ones better I find their fins don't take so much damage and i find they are actually less agressive, at least thats what i can see. Is the difference because of sex or species?
