has anyone ever seen a serpae tetra that DOES NOT have any trace whatsoever of the charachteristic black spot on the sides? I cant even remember if this fish HAD the spot and lost it, He/She came alone and remains alone, by that I mean he is the only serpae, just curious if this is common.

Yes, I have 3 of them :)

I wondered for ages what they were becasue I forgot what was on the tank when I bought them. The missing black spot was the thing that confused me, but somebody told me it's just another way they breed them. They're also much brighter than the normal ones I have. I bought more becasue they seem happier in a group :)

theres two of them in this pic :)

they are definately serpaes.

i think there is a variety that doesn't have the black spot. however, when i bought five of these they lost the spot - not completely but it was faded. i then increased the shoal to eight and they became a lot more colourful and the spot come back so i would say increase your shoal if you're worried.
