well my Serpae tetras are ganging up on both pairs of my rams :(

They are going back to the shop, but what should i replace them with? Id like something colourful and mellow

Thanks

Kev

Ive always liked my black phantom and red phantom tetras. Pencilfish are great to watch as they stop and start in the water

rummy noses are my favouite but cardinals look great if you have a nice big group of them (10 or more).

Rummy's not in my experiece. Haven't kept Cardinals in many years so can't remember.
I vote for Rummy's

Yeah I had serpaes once and had to take them back also.

Why not x ray tetras they are quite smart, and very mellow.

never seen them before Oo sounds kool

Anyway, they will be kept in a group of about 10~15 so any other fish that can go with rams, dont need to be tetras...

How do guppys and things like that do with them?

Thanks,

kev

How about Colombian Tetras.

I have 12 (+ 2 fry) and they are peacable and colourfull.

For some reason they are also breeding. They never bother my Rams, in fact my male Ram enjoys chasing them.

Might be worth a look.

That's odd that they would be that bad toward the rams and not bother the corys. I've got serpaes in my 29 gallon and haven't had any problems except when I first got them and only 3. Usually in schools of at least 6 they are fine and only chase each other.

If you do replace them, the x-ray tetras (pristellas) are very pretty. I also love congos. I think they are among the prettiest tetras (and the largest too).

Wow, I'm going through the same thing right now. My serpaes aren't killing the rams, but they did eat their first batch of babies, and are out of the tank for the moment (in our 75g). My wife and I have agreed that they do more harm in our tank than good (they also really bother our bristlenose). We were thinking about replacing them with harlequin rasboras.

All good ideas people! i will look up all these and see which i would like most and see what they have in stock at the store :)

They kept bugging him and i think he died of stress :(

The other ram atm is going the same way :( i think hes going to die too  the Serpea have been moved to a 5 gallon tank till saturday... all i have tho

The rams fins are rather chewed up, i have added some disease clear, which says is for torn fins and some other things.

"crossesfinger" hope the little guy pulls through but i heard once they were stressed theres no going back

Ya know, I think the eggs might have been good for the rams, because they were at least aggressive and kept the tetras away for a while. We're taking them back on Saturday, gonna trade 'em in for rocks for our 75g :p

lol, whats going in the 75g?

Some African cichlids, will probably add the first couple this weekend.

Me personally I would get rid of the serpae tetras and keep the rams. I have 2 German Blue rams and 2 serpae tetras; they seem to get along fine in my tank. Out of the two my first pick would be the rams hands down, way more of an interesting fish. Also I have 2 rummy nose tetras and they do not nip fins.
