I have recently had some sick fish in one of my tanks which makes me wonder what what to do to make sure disease doesn't spread?

I notice shops use some coloured liquid in a tub to soak their nets in, what is this stuff?

I know some people will say bleach but I have yet to see evidence that decholrinator can remove bleach traces!

I use a pond disinfectant that you get from any LFS, just a quick rinse and away you go.

I use the Same, Pond sterilizer
the blue liquid in the shops is a mix of Waterlife: Sterazin, WS3, and medizine - bst mix for keeping your nets diease free.

Handy tip! Im surprised this isnt more common knowledge, or do not many people have more than one tank? :)

I keep seperate nets and rinse them in the sink under scalding water, works well for me.

Probably a mix of net soak; http://www.aquariumguys.com/netsoak1.html

You can make your own using a little meth blue & acriflavin if you are using nets that often. Chlorinated tap water contains enough disinfectant to clean nets between uses, that & drying is fine for occasional use.

For quar or hospital tanks use separate gear, this means siphons, vacs, nets, buckets, anything that could transfer anything wet. A bleach/water mix is an excellent sterilizing agent, I use it all the time. I have yet to see evidence that when used properly it causes any harm; http://www.fishforums.net/content/forum/119809/Bleach-/
