requirements for breeding
goin to give it a try

do u start by buying loads and see if they pair off like discus??
how do u tell male sna females ?
will they breed in a cave?
will they need there own tank i have a few in my discus tank at the mo

do you mean sterbai corys?
i used to breed those till dropsy killed off my group. corys breed best in groups. i bought 6 - turned out to be 5 male and 1 female(!) they bred though, many times. couldnt tell the difference really except my female grew slightly larger than the males and was more rounder when full off eggs :)

Hi beechey :)

If your C. sterbai are mature and ready to breed, they are well apt to spawn right in the discus tank. You can then move the eggs out to be raised separately.

Since they are husky corys, it's not always easy to tell the sexes apart, but even so, if you see any wider ones in the bunch, they will probably be females. In order to insure maximum fertilization it's usually a good idea to have more males than females in your spawning group, but if the group is large, this will be less of a problem since the females will not likely be spawning all at the same time. When this happens, the males will chase the female until she turns and selects one of them for the T-position. She will then deposit her eggs and the process will begin again with the chance she will pick a different male for that little group of eggs.

Good luck with the breeding. Please let us know if you are successful. :)

defo will do, what sort of age/ size do they need to be to breed

Hi beechey :)

They will need to be mature which means a good size. I'm hoping that this batch will give me some eggs in the fall.

think im goin to buy 10 or so, and just see what happens my tank is really large so they will have lots of floor space for them selfs

SHOW BE GETTING A GROUP OF 7 WHICH HAVE BEEN BREEDING ON FRIDAY 18 MONTHS OLD

DID U HAVE A CAVE FOR THEM ETC ?

got them now a proud owner of 8 aldult serbi corys

They are cracking little fish. I have had mine for a few weeks now and they are the only inhabitants in my tank because I can't find the other fish that I want locally at the moment, but for the time being I'm perfectly happy with just these guys. They are great characters and very good looking fish.

Good luck with the breeding.
