Can anyone tell me where I could buy Plastic opaque sheeting about 5mm thick to cut down and use to seperate tanks ready for breeding ??
I was planning on using Aquarium Silicone to secure, but I have looked in DIY and hardware stores and can't seem to find anything ??
I was Planning on using an external filter with spray bar over the top ?? would that be ok or would small holes need to be drilled in the plastic to aid filtration??
I have seen the Seperators sold at LFS but I have inheritted 3 x new tanks and would need 6 in total .. so dont really fancie spending £70 just to seperate them ??

Hope that lot makes sense.. Just got up after working nights and a bit tired !!

Thanks
Becks.

Silicone won't stick well to plastic, though I have made it work in the past... Make's water changes aquard, as if you drop the water level in one section, without dropping the level in the other also, the divider rips itself out  5mm plastic may be better, as there is a larger gluing area, and it should bend less, but you could still have issues at waterchange time. I was using 2mm plastic. You could try to find liquid glass, and try some of that, though I've never tried it...

For filtration, I'd stick your exturnals inlet at one end, and the outlet on a spray bar, as deep as possible into the section at the other end. The water will then flow over the dividers, into a "sump section" at the inlet end, ready to be passed through the exturnal again. Fry would collect at this end though, and action would need to be taken to stop them going through the filters

Hmm, Food for thought,
I think I am gonna have to have a bit of a rethink on this one, or just bite the bullett and buy the "proper" dividers from LFS
Thanks
