I have just set up my tank after a four year break (high mortality rate). Hoping to stock up with goldfish, can anyone recommend hardy fancy goldfish and a good book?

Also should i put in real plants??? :)

:hi: to TFF

The best thing you can do is fully cycle the filter before adding your fish. As I am sure you are aware, most fancy goldfish can grow to rugby ball size, and need at least 30gal each. They are all as hardy as each other in my experience, and most books give the same info. Real plants are likely to get eaten, but give them a try if you want, and see what happens. In the "new to the hobby" section, there is an article about fishless cycling. It is the first topic you see in that section, as it is pinned :good: and will give you all the info you need to get your tank ready for fish

HTH, and better luck this time arround
