just purchased a used marine aquarium with weir tank especially in the weir is fairly dirty can anyone recomend the best way to clean out these hard to reach areas :good:

realy big pipe cleaners. Also i think i heard somone using organ brushes to clean there pipiing

i think i will be replacing all the pipework the bit i am struggling with is the weir square cover there is a 10mm glass box all the way to the top of the tank how can i get to the bottom

Plug it and fill with an acid. The stronger the better.

??? I'm serious though... A strong acid will dissolve most most organics and any calcified remains in there. Then you just rinse repeatedly and you're set. Acids will not harm glass or silicone. If all you have is vinegar, use that, but if you can get your hands on some acids used to clean swimming pools, that would be ideal.

White venegar works wonders if left to soak. Or failing that a weak bleach mix (7 pparts water to 1 part bleach roughly) and just keep rinsing till you can't smell it anymore.
