Search/chat/aquarium Calculator Still Not Working

The thing that seems strange is that there has been no message (that I've seen) warning of problems with the search facility and apologising or mentioning when it'll be fixed etc. This happens on other forums ...

Indeed a simple post like that, (perhaps even the Mods would have enough access to do this?), might be enough to at least stop the constantly repeating threads of "<feature xxxx> not working?"
Perhaps even an announcement / sticky that not only contains that alert, but also contains information on the work-arounds, (such as using the calculator from the archives, or using google to search the forums).

Yes, listing the workarounds would have been a good idea. I didn't know for example that you can search the forums through google and in order to use it will have to check above to find out how (old brain not working on a Monday morning )
