Hi. Sorry for posting this a second time, but I may get a better response here than in the Equipment section. I've had another attack of "iwannanothernewtank" syndrome, and I was thinking about getting a 40 or 50 gallon SeaClear acrylic tank, but I have questions on the top cover of the Regular and System II types.

It sounds like the clear acrylic top of these tanks is bonded to the sides? I've seen a couple reviews at Petsmart and/or Petco that this bonded top has openings for the light fixture & I assume filters & heater? Any extra openings for an external cannister filter?

It also sounds like these top slots/openings give limited access to the tank itself which leads me to believe it may be difficult to clean the tank sides or get large rocks, etc. into the tank?

The SeaClear System II models have an additional built in wet/dry filtration system - is it any good? Is it removable?

Here's a link to the SeaClear site:

If anyone has either of these 2 types of SeaClear tanks (regular & System II) and can post some pictures of the tops that sure would sure be helpful. I've yet to find a site that gives a good view of what the top of the tanks looks like.

Any comments pro & con would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Thats strange, So the whole tank is almost like a box? Except the top has openings for heater etc. and the front opens enough to get your hand in? To me that doesn't sound like a good idea, what if you cant get your driftwood, rocks, etc in? IMO you should stick with the regular open top aquarium with removable hood, but, do as you wish.

That's my feeling too, based on what little information I can get on these tanks. I'm thinking surely they can't be that much of a hassle to set up & maintain, or they wouldn't be selling them. I guess I'll wait & see if anyone owns one or has looked at one. I'll put them on my list to check out when I get to the lfs, but I can't even consider ordering one till I find out more.
