Seachem Purigen

Has anyone used Seachem Purigen? What are your experiences of this? what made you go for this?

Hi there. I put it in my 60 gallon about a month ago. I just was interested in it. Had read how it really clears the water. I have to say it really polishes the water. And it cleared out the tannins from the new wood too. I have read and read and no one is reporting mini-cycles using it or when they remove it to refreshen it, but I have not tried this yet. Nevertheless, for me, I will be ordering more to have it on hand.

Glad someone asked this, because I picked up some the other day as well, just haven't introduced it to the tank yet.

i also primarily used it as a polisher (it does a great job at that), but also as a organic ammonia/nitrate remover. I dose in-organic nitrates into my planted tanks. All i can say is that it appears to be doing it's job...there's little to no algae in my planted tanks. A great product for a planted tank.

so would you recommend adding some to a normal tank? and how much would i need for a 400 ltr tank?
