I have been researching this recently to use in a low maintenance planted tank instead of sand over a layer of another substrate. I could find no decent pics online, so I bought some today and thought I'd share. I got it from blue ocean aquatics in attercliffe, sheffield. Bit of a trek, but worth it to see what it looked like before buying.
It comes in a 7kg bag, cost me £25. It says that covers 5500 cm3 or 325 cu inches. I reckoned that to be a layer 3cm deep in my 60x30cm tank.
I wanted it to be suitable for cories and I think it's fine enough

It's a good black too-it's damp in the bag (and in the picture) but when dry is quite a light grey.
I'm really hoping I manage to have a successful planted tank with it, so fingers crossed :)

You went to my LFS!!! Did you like it?

Small world! I thought it wasn't bad. Very heavy on the marines, not a lot of tropicals. Huge range of the sera stuff although the lady who served me didn't seem that knowledgeable about the meds. And expensive for the sand, it's £22 I think at aqua essentials, although obviously there would be postage on that.

It's big isn't it, not to spacious because of the tanks. Did you look i the 2 roundish marine tanks? They have 2 sharks one in each one. The fish that are ill are getting treated.

I have this stuff in my 5.5 gallon planted tank, crypts are growing really nicely and the cories love digging around it.

Did you see any halfmoon betta?

Thanks for the thumbs up tgo-I am impatient to get mine set up!
I only saw VTs misscosmo.

Is that all they had? They usually have a good stock of mixed bettas (meaning different species not crossed)
