Sarcophyton- Leather mushroom

I got my order of the leather mushroom from liveaquaria.com today. I am slightly concerned since Im not sure how its really supposed to look upon arrival. Here's a few pics, tell me if he's healthy and such, and the correct position he's supposed to be in, its stem is at a near 90* angle. it will straighten up, right?

If its closed, how long will it be till it opens up? I just want to make sure its ok.

Also, I added a pic of my entire tank just to get your opinions as well.

My leather wuz closed up like that for 2 days after I got it, and it was only in a bag for 3.5 hours (with 3 of the hours spent acclimating). Since it was shipped, it could be extra stressed so I wouldn't worry for a while. Good luck

mine I have had for almost three months now. the very bottom of its stalk is bent at 90 degrees. the rest of the stalk stands straight up looking for water movement. i have found that the stalk tends to bend and sway with the way of the water movement. I have found that mine likes a pretty good amount of water movement to open up. you may want to direct some water flow towards it if you do not see signs of it opening by tomorrow later after-noon.

ive got 2 leather now the first one had taken 4 days to come out and the other 3 days so just be patiet it will come out but it wil;l come out slowly i think it needs to brake through the top layer of stuff i think is mouckes (spelling) my one started bould and know is getting better every day 5 days inn and now looks like this first thing in the morning

also i think it has a 90 degree bend in it is because thats how it grew when it was on the main rock if you turn it around so th ehead is at the top thats what i meen

thanks guys, All the pics I've seen just showed their head and not their stems, so I did get concerned abotu the angle.

I'll wait a few days to make sure it opens, I also turned it so its head is up.

forgot to ad my 2 like a hiflow of water it seems to make them come out more

Oh, got my powerhead turned on, finally put it in (never had a reason to put it in till now, hehe) and have it flowing over the mushroom.

still not open yet, hopefully before I go away for a week (dont worry, someone's caring for them while Im gone)

Update: The mushroom is starting to open up, its just 'budding' now. At least I know its alive and ok

how fast do they grow?

you will find that when yours gets going it will double the size my new big one is starting to split already
