I'm looking for a suitable bottom dweller for my 55 gallon SAP tank. So far the tank only houses 8 Giant Danios, as I'm still trying to track down my puffers. I plan on 6 puffers. I don't have any algae, so they'd have to settle for algae wafers if that's their usual diet. Any suggestions? Tank is 4ft, Sand, 2 HOB 60gal filters, cycled and rock for hiding places. No live plants, all fake.
Would red tailed zebra loaches work? Or maybe these?

Don't introduce puffers unless you dont mind the danios living miserably or killed. Puffers are quite aggressive and notorious fin nippers... They will keep chasing and nipping at your danios and ANY fish until it dies. you may get lucky and get a puffer with calmer personality, but since you are keeping more than 1, risk is extremely high. 6 is also a bit much, unless you are keeping pea puffers. 3-4 is plenty. Also, puffers need more than algae wafers to survive. They need food like snails to trim their teeth and crustacians to stay healthy. Lastly those 2 fishes wont work for puffers, but will for the danios. If you still insist on getting puffers, get the south american puffers... one of the few peaceful puffers available.

Guess I should have clarified... SAP- South American Puffer.
I'm revolving the tank around them, going with tankmates that may work out. If they don't, I have another tank they can be housed in. For the algae wafers, I was talking about the wafers for the bottom dwellers as my tank is void of algae. Already have a ten gallon snail breeding tank going, and have plenty of them. :)
