hey i changed my tank to sand but i dont no how to clean it and that do i stil use the syphon thing, also there are patches of dirt on the surface wil this go?

Yes, you can still use your syphon, but hold it about 1/2" above the sand. It should lift the dirt and leave the sand behind, you can experiment with how high above the sand to hold it and see what works best for you.

Don't forget to run something through the sand (I use a chopstick) to prevent anerobic spots developing and creating H2S gas pockets which will kill fish.

Yeah, I agree. Everything that Captain Canuck said has worked for me. Just be sure to get swimming pool filtration sand.
