Sand Trouble

I added regular play sand. It's been in the tank for two days and is clearing up extremely slowly. Can anyone tell me how to get it to settle or clear up faster, preferably without water changes?

if you have an internal filter it may be stiring up the water too much , try pointing the outlet towards the side of the tank, or upwards if it has a venturi attatchment.
