I don't know if I should believe my LFS anymore there so full of crap I have 1 highfin pleco 6 cory cats and a betta can I put sand in my tank I'm thinking about putting either a bog wood or drift wood don't really know not an expert and also some plants in there help please also I'm going for that natural river look HELP ! Thank you in advance :)

Sands good for cories, i wouldnt buy it from a pet shop though, can get a 15kg bag of play sand (that looks nicer than most pet shop sands imo) for like 3 quid. Only prob with sand and plants is untill they root they can be hard to anchor sometimes, ive got some smooth gravel mixed in with mine.

Sands fine, what did the shop say bit confused? Best way ive found to put the sand in is (wash it obv) then put in a bag you get your fish in, grip it so its tight take to the bottom of tank and let it out slowly, will stop so much of it getting into the water. Sand also makes cleaning a bit easier as the poo and uneaten food sits on top just easy so siphon.

And with wood just get whatever u fancy (if its unused soak it in hot water for a few days, reheating the water twice a day or something) to get some of the tannins out, some will still get in water will clear eventually with w/cs tho, could also look into what trees you can use (like going down the forest and finding some) and properly preparing them for the tank (never done this myself but have seen it done, with berch or something) which looked good cos they where branches rather than lumps of wood.

hope this helped

Well my LFS said that the sand I really bad for the corys because theyr can eat it and choke on it also they said they corys are really aggressive and that they wouldn't be good w. Bettas this lady was def. Crazy but yeah and as for play sand any ideas on where to get it

Oh, yeah, watch out for those aggressive cory! LOL!

That's ridiculous!! And sand is absolutely the best thing for cory cats. They'll suck it up and shoot it out their gills, grabbing little bits of food in the process. I used to have an albino who used to dive in head first!

You can get play sand at any home improvement or hardware store. I think on your side of the pond it's Argos Play Sand. Very, very cheap. Just be sure to wash it a LOT before you use it.

yeah my LFS is crazy i have another question my water isnt crystal clear its sort of cloudy not crazy cloudy but it isnt clear clear what can i do to fix this my ammonia isnt high at all its at 0 and ive tried alot evenwater changes any suggestions on what i can do to fix this

Yes it is actually its the 8th picture but there is a 10 in parenthesis

Worst fears confirmed, the 65 you are planning is not big enough for that fish, I have seen these reach 20 or so inches

well I mean right now its a baby by the time it reaches 20in" it'll be moved

Well I have a friend who owns a 200 gallon tank so when it gets to big for the 65 ill ask him if hed like it or donate the fish

I'd ask him now, I certainly wouldn't want a large Gibby if I had a tank that size.

Edit - Is it the fish in your profile picture??

That already looks way to big for a 20gal, what size is it?

No its not him that's a fish I saw at the petstore was gonna get it but it was a common pleco so I didn't want that now and yeah my friend would take it no problem so I already got a back up plan for my pleco
