Sand Or Chipps?

I use fine rounded gravel. If it was a choice between sand and rough chipped gravel though, I'd pick sand, as sand and rounded gravel don't harm their barbels.

Sand takes a short time to settle, it is just the silt that takes a long time and its what makes the water cloudy, I had 2 airlines in and a filter working and it settled in about 12-20 hours. It collected on the inside glass and I had to wipe it off, it also collected on the filter intake and filter cartridges and I had to clean those also...
