hi, just wondering how much salt i will need to mix with 25l ro water to get it too about 1.025?
first time mixing

Here is the calculator which I use: http://www.hamzasreef.com/Contents/Calculators/DirectSaltCalculator.php

If you add a little at a time and keep checking it fishy as some people find different amounts to work for them :D keep a note and it should be the same next time :good:

Good luck :D

but i am gonna need to leave it mixing about 12 hours to mix completely before adding, so really i need to know the amount

im hoping to get it mixing before 7 so any help much appreciated

ill go read the box again and see how it goes. i hope it goes right

It should say on the salt tub how much to add for 1.025 .. i think mine says add 1kg of salt to 24.9 litres of water.

So just get your scales and a cup or whatever you will put your salt in... weigh the container without salt then add the salt and minus the weight of the container to get the right amount. hope that makes sense

well it doesnt say on the box

ive read it is about 35g per litre?

You can work it out yourself pretty easily, 1.025 Specific Gravity is equal to 34.3 Parts per thousand, so you'll need 34.3 grams per Litre, so just do 34.3*25L which is 858 Grams, then test with your refractometer and add more salt as necessary, make sure you test at 25oC, marine salt contains extra elements such as Mg, Ca etc so you'll need to add slightly more than if you were using pure NaCl.

As a rule of thumb so far i've been adding 35g of tropic marin per litre, then adjusting after 12-24 hours of heating at 24c. Got me at a steady 1.025.
