SAE or oto?

Uh oh. Cause my 2 CAE are like 5 inches!!! I don't know if they are eating algae anymore either, because I see little black tufts of algae on the side of the glass. (and yes it's algae, I have it in my other tanks too) Plus one of my really old pristella tetras has a big wound in his side, apparently it punctured (or whatever) his swim bladder, because he looks like a bottom feeder trying to swim on the top. But I'm not sure this is because of the CAE, it's basically a slit.
Well, gotta go,
Robin
Are the two CAEs in the same tank? As they grow they do become highly terriotoral with their own species.

Planted or not, two 5" CAEs in a 10 gallon tank is a disaster waiting to happen on several levels. Please consider moving both of them to separate, larger homes. From everything I've heard, it's only a matter of time before they turn on each other and/or the other fish...

You're in the water.... CAE's in the water... Farewell and adeiu, to you fair Spanish ladies...

And once again, my beloved SAEs get a bad rap! ;)

guppygirl: Here's a good article on the difference between CAEs, SAEs, and other similar fish...

Compatibility
Young Chinese Algae Eaters can be kept in community, but adult specimens can be aggressive to other fish. They most often attack slow-swimming, flat-bodied fish and shouldn't be kept with them.
noticed this from the site....I would think the pic shown is the CAE and not a pleasent fish when older....

P.S. Modernhamlet, are you calling me spanish? What do you mean by that?
D'oh!

I occasionally throw out random movie quotes that are somehow appropriate to the situation. That particular one comes from the original Jaws movie.

Sorry if I confused you! I do that sometimes... :S :D
