:byebye: I've had my dear betta, FLuffy, for about 10 months. About a month ago I was able to buy him a 5 gallon tank with a very nice set up and a black molly as a friend and live plants (yay!). But just this week I added another molly. And this morning I found Fluffy totally dead, discolored, and with no fins. Could this be the work of the molly? I had always though mollies were peaceful and boring. Are they actually killers? If they are, then I'm feeding it to my boyfriends jack dempsey!

Yeah, I've never kept mollies but I've heard they can be like that, especially in such tight quarters. I'm so sorry for you and your betta :(

if you think about it.. its your fault, not the mollies.. 2 wrongs dont make a right.. feeding your mollies to the jack dempsey isnt smart.. considering it was you who put the mollies in there.. so technically if anyone gets fed to the jack dempsey it would be you :p

Sorry to hear about your betta.

I have a marbled mollie in with a betta and a swordtail in a 10 gallon tank. Betta and molly don't bother one another, but the betta chases the swordtail all over the place! So I really think it depends on the temperment of the fish.

I'm watching carefully, and if I see an increased problem, someone will be moved.

bettas generally dont get along wiht liverbearers...especially mollies. just ask wrs.
definately dont kill the mollies. they are just following their instincts. you can probably trade them into the lfs for some credit.
lopeva-take the betta out immediately. just because htye may be peaceful now doesnt mean they wont have a mood swing for the worse.

if ur mollys kicked ur betta's butt how do u think they wont kill the jack dempsey? dont kill the mollys it rely is partially ur fault.

well if she was gonna feed the mollies to the jack dempsey she probably would try feeding me to it

Sorry to hear about your betta by the way...it is always sad when they pass...even worse when you think you may have been part of the cause.
Remember, we are all still learning, unfortunately, sometimes at the cost of our little friends. Keep your head up. :D
