Sad Fish!

Hey guys,

The film is taking longer to come back so I think that's going the right way.

I noticed today that Simon has started making a bubble nest <3 so I think he's happy! Will clearing this away at his next water change cause any problems?

He's learning tricks too, he's started to jump for his food.

d:D

It just means he is sexually mature and ready to breed.

This is a bad thing and unless you have a lid on your tank or lower the water level by about 5 inches, it will end up in disaster. I have a new betta sorority and my girls are jumpers at feeding time, and they are quite good at it, almost put a Olympic pole vaulter to shame.

I am not trying to scare you, Ok I am but its for the best, your fish will jump out of the tank at some stage and it could be fatal.

If you dont have a lid for the tank you can use cling wrap.

Yep, you don't want Simon jumping, especially if you don't have a lid. Try not to encourage this behaviour. I know that it may seem impressive, but you'd want to stop it, to avoid a tragedy.

Don't worry, his tank has a lid :) but not a tight fitting one. There's about 0.5cm gap all the way around. He won't be squeezing out of there anytime soon.

Thanks for your replies guys.
