:-( :-( Hi to all who have been following the woes of my female swordtail, she finally gave up the fight last night. I am of cause :-( , but in a way at least she is no longer suffering. For those who have not read my last emergency message she was badly 'nipped' by a green tipped barb. I had isolated the offending barb do you think it is now safe? It did have a go at the other barb, the remaining two have been unsettled since I lost one. Should I get more before I reintroduce the naughty one? I have a small tank so could only get two more. Any thoughts? cool_jool

sorry to hear that m8 :(

If you got room for another couple then that would probably be best... :)

Barbs tend to be nippy with other fish if there's only a couple of them. When there's a shoal, then they're so busy with each other, they don't harrass other fish. If you have room for a few more, that might solve your problem. Sorry to hear about your swordtail :-(

Hi Thanks for the sympathy all. I have reintroduced the offending barb. It is chasing the other, but no sign of fin nipping. I am going on holiday on Saturday, I think it's unfair to put new fish in with a friend in charge, so I figure the best option is to leave well alone for now. Just a thought - the nipped barb is looking very, very fat could she be about to spawn - is that why the other is bothering her? cool_jool
