Hi

How do I tell if my Betta is sad or happy? -_-

He spent a week in the kitchen where I thought he would be able to quietly get used to his new surroundings.. (he has been here a week).

Turns out, he lost most of his colour and sat in the corner looking sad the whole time!

I moved him to the top of the computer desk, where it is nice and bright and he will get more company... mainly from me sitting at the computer! :p

He started picking up a little today.. did some laps of his 10L tank.. made some bubbles around the top of this tank.. (not heaps... just patches of bubbles) and his colour seems a little betta...
Not sure if that's my imagination though or not... :dunno:

How long will it take him to *get happy* and swim around the tank like he did with his former owner?
He is currently *hanging* in the corner again.. spent 75% day looking depressed, compared to 100% last week.

Any ideas?

Try a Mirror next to the Tank for an Hour.

I use 1 when treating them and it perks them up.

He should Perk up in a little while, Was i dim in the Kitchen?

:*) Yep, it was dark in the corner of the kitchen he was in.

I already tried the mirror trick.. stuck it to his tank for a week... no response.

No flaring, didnt even seem to notice it was there... hence my leaving it stuck to the tank for a whole week... ( I realise wasnt meant to be there that long ;) )

Aww Mr Hoggle.. still sitting there looking all sad. :-(

Try some Bloodworm or Shrimp.
Lots of Good Light.
What temp in Centrigrade is he kept in.

Hi Salli- perhaps your place is colder then his former owners. I had no idea with my first betta that he was loosing color/activity because I keep my home at 66 F. When I took him to my work and plunked him in the com. tank he perked up and lived for 5 years. Just a thought...
