Rusty Diet

Can anyone reccomend a food to feed my new rusty pleco? I feed all my fish a mix of veggie and meat based pellets and frozen foods but i'm not sure what the rusty is eating.
Could anyone reccomend a brand of food?

hikari algae wafers or hikari sinking wafers.
you may wish to try him on JMC catfish pellets

L077s are Hypostomus species, but were previously part of the Cochliodon group, and need to eat bogwood like Panaques. They'll appreciate veggies (courgette, cucumber, sweet potato and even melon) and the odd algae wafer too (preferably lower protein ones such as "Tropical" and "Wardley" ones).

Congratulations on getting one, they're seriously gorgeous. I miss our old one a lot, he was full of character.

I've wanted one for ages but was put off because my boyfriend says that there are better looking plecos (i think not!).
Well i have been feeding Hikari sinking wafers amongst other foods so im guessing he's been eating them! I tried cucumber but he didn't touch it. I have plenty of wood...i look forward to vaccing up all those wood shaving poos!

All my fish, esp PLECS, love Nutrafins Spirulina Algae Flake Food ( also comes in tabletform ). Try it I guarantee you'll use it forever.

I have got this 'stick to the glass' type of spirulina food that the Sevs go mad over, might try sinking it for him! I have got every food imaginable all mixed up in an airtight container. I call it my special mix!

Argh sorry I wasn't about - seems everyone has it covered. My rusty eats nothing but wood and courgette, well, he gets the chance but never takes it lol. Actually, I tell a lie, he likes sweet potato too. Not as much as courgette though! I use Hikari wafers, but have also used Sera with the wood added into it - but to be honest, they dont really need that if you have bogwood in there - and they tend to make the water cloudy - so I stick to the Hikari. But yeah, Rusty loves courgette, he'll wrestle anyone for it - and if it's in the tank, he's on it
