I was soaking a big piece of driftwood in a 35G tub as it wouldn't stay sunken, even when attached to slate. I had a 10lb weight on it, and I wasn't really paying much attention over the week and the weight began to rust.

My question is, would you be terribly worried about putting it in the tank? My personal sentiment is that I should just soak it again in some freshwater for another week and not worry - I feel like a lot of the stuff the wood and pieces that people put in aquariums have probably sat in worse, so I cant see a weeks worth of light rust would cause a ton of trouble.

Then again, I'm posting to ask :)

Sorry, didn't notice this one

Yes, you'll be fine to put it in your tank; things are ok unless they have the actual rust on :good:

Not worried any longer, and I don't see myself sourcing a slab of stainless steel, drilling holes through said stainless steel, and attaching it to driftwood
