I have 7 rummynose tetra in my relatively new 29 gallon planted tank (along with 8 red cherry shrimp). 5 of those tetra I got 5 days ago. One of the 5 has been acting differently, while the other 6 are schooling together, looking and acting well, bright red noses, and eating normally.
The 1 tetra is a little more lethargic - he will split his time chilling in or slowly swimming around in the plants and swimming around the tank alone. He doesn't school with the rest of the fish but swims amongst them from time to time; it doesn't look like any of the other fish are bothering him or otherwise acting aggressively toward him. When he swims around alone, he looks fine, alternating speeds but not swimming erratically or losing balance or anything. His nose is slightly red; not gray, but not nearly as red as the others. He is also noticeably smaller than the other rummies and doesn't eat when fed, he kind of just swims around the food but doesn't go for any of it. He does appear to pick at the substrate as if he's eating, but I can't tell if he's grabbing anything. I've been feeding Sera breeder food. Finally, he has what looks like a light brown discoloration near his genitals. I can't tell if it's something hanging out or just a bump or something.
All the numbers look fine: 0, 0, 5. pH is a little high at about 7.6; I have some driftwood in there and I'm hoping that brings it down over time.
I'm just wondering how concerned I should be and if there is anything I can or should do at this point.
Thanks in advance!
