I think my RTBS is trying to jump out of the tank. It looks like he is trying to jump up into the HOB filter. This is the only area that isn't completely covered. Does anyone know what he's doing and why he would want to jump out?

check your water quailty, they are related to the flying fox, guess why they call it flying :D they jump miles I had one and it managed to jump out of a tank and right the way across my living room . sadly he is no longer with us. :-(

Yea RTB are quite the leapers. I have had mine 4+ years, and he still tries and tries. I can hear the water move when I turn the lights out. To solvent the situation, I covered all areas of the tank- nothing is left uncovered. I measure the areas that were open, and simply cut cardboard and taped it on. I've had no problems since then, but my RTB keeps trying. :good:

I used duct-taoe on my polyterus tank to cover the wholes, coz its black and heavey duty. and people have never noticed :D or at least they have never said anything :D

cool thanx for the tips. i knew they liked to jump but i've had him for 3 months now and he had never tried jumping before. i guess i might have stressed him out as well yesterday when i took a while to vacuum the gravel. last night i used a piece of leftover plastic from an old hood to cover the area above the water flow of the filter. i'm proud to say that the RTBS is still in the tank, alive and happy. :)
