Hi there once again,

Been busy with A-levels and so have been slow with the tank. happy to say it is now working correctly, just need to add salt!

Anyways,

I have only one clear tides reactor and so can run either rowa or carbon in it. or could i mix?

the other choice would have to be passivley filtered sitting in the sump unless it is worth getting another reactor and adding it inline to the other?

Dont want to put either in the fx5 as i was intending this for live rock rubble only but will if it is the best option, thinking of it, it is not that hard to change if it sits on the top, the sump will have to be stopped once a month then, but i spose it will have to anyway every time i water change? -_-

post going on my journal soon.

last thing, i have tonnes of ceramic pieces can i have this with my LR rubble and surely it will seed it and become one of the same?

You can put both carbon and rowa in a reactor together :good:

As Nemo said, you can have them together, but I believe they need to be separated, many people have two reactors and daisy chain them together.

I would personally run them separately. Pick up a second reactor when you can. In the meantime I feel that Rowa is a bigger deal then carbon. :)

There is no reason why you cannot use them in the same reactor, other than the fact if you change them at different times, that will not be possible (obviously). I actually remember reading the instructions of a reactor once (kent maybe?) that said to fill with appropriate amount of phosphate remover, and if it was not tall enough to meet the minimum height, use carbon to reach it.

hit the nail on the head. why possibly waste your resources.

Well it depends how often you have to change either of them... Everyone's systems are different.

yeppers always good to have a spare on hand too(which is why I advocate 2). :) Then if you drop one and break it (or your kid throws it across the room and breaks multiple things), you have a spare until the next one is bought.

okay great! seeing as i am fairly limited to space i will probably run rowa in the reactor and carbon in the fx5 as it isnt too much effort and if i have to turn it off for a water change i may as well open it :p :good:

What are your views on this?

video will follow suit soon, showing everything working as it should

Picking up some salt tommorow, it is okay to mix brands yes? i was using h2Ocean Pro+ and my shop only sells red sea coral somthing (the good one) depending on price i may get this. or its another order from charterhouse

Many thanks for your replies and as stated dont really want to consume more product that i have to, (on a £100 a month budget now so watching it, this includes all my hobbies and goings out!)

Phos first and organics (puregen) then carbon, unless you need cal reactor etc

Both will be fine and Row leave that nasty brown layer everywhere that seems never to hurt anything and then you don't notice it - funny stuff

Carbons and Phos be fine,, look at why you want carbon running thou,, i might go polly-filter first and carbon if in bad times etc
