Rosy barb growing up in the undergravel filter

today i was at my cousins and we were looking in his 10 gal and all of a sudden my cousin noticed there was a small fish swiming around in the pipe of the under gravel filter... we looked closer and it was a rosy barb. It was at least 1/2 inch. My cousin had a male and female rosy barb but just resently the female died. When we say it we quickly set it free and its still alive heathly. We have no idea how it could have gotten into the undergravel filter enless the got some how sucked down. but still the only way we can think of him living was of eating crap or his siblings. its still kinda weird that it was down there and lived that long

Did you check the whole of the UG Filter to make sure there are no more? Im glad you saved him!

Your story Riley sort of reminds of a time a few years back when I was cleaning my power filter. When I pulled out the media a Kuhli Loach wiggled out. It scared the $%#! out of me. He survived the ordeal but I nearly didn't.

yeah we checked there wasn't anymore the barb is still doing good but his gill plates are a bit screwed
