Ropefish

What are some good tank mates for ropefish? I have 75 gallon aquarium and was wondering what would be some fish that could be tank mates with rope fish.

These guys get along with most things. They will do fine with any fish bigger than their mouths, anything smaller will most likely be eaten up! They will not, or should not, be tank mates with oscars, red devils, or any other predatory/territoral type large fish. Large goldfish and the same do well.

funny enough I keep mine with oscars and a clown knifefish, bichir and fire eel without a problem but there we go

I've got ctenopoma and praecox rainboows with mine, along with some raphael 'talking' catfish.

If you are getting the rope/reedfish though get a group they are more active and do better the bigger the group.

and don;t forget they grow quite long, my largest is 15 inches long and quite thick for a ropefish

mine is around 12inches and is housed with big tinfoil's/big silvershark's/big plec/channa/senegal bichir/hoplo catfish/pictus catfish

I keep my two with 5 Angelfish, 2 Opaline Gourami, 2 Gold Gourami, 4 Blue Loach, 6 Rainbow Sharks, and a Bushynose Pleco.
I kept a school of Serpae Tetra's successfully as well, but they were on the larger side.
My Ropes are about 15" and 12" long.
