I've had my ropefish since last march, and it has never attempted to escape from it's tank (Call me lucky I guess :p ) After a water change about an hour ago I found my rope under the gravel, with it's head poking out. Is this behavior normal or do I have a character? (It's been acting normal since this) :)

Bichirs are known to do this. None of mine have done it though.
Some say it may be an ambush tactic, others say it could be to hide when scared.

my two spiny eels used to do this but since i have added more cover, including bogwood and plants, they havnt since. I think they may feel more comfortable if they are hidden. My guys used to do it after the lights came on. :)
