Rocky Mountain River

Ive been looming at the led strips w/dimmer for that effect, i think it looks really nice, are you doing this in private or are you gonna let us all see :D

That's brilliant! Thanks Mate - you have inspired me to give it a go!

What are you adding into the mix to improve the fish colours?

Ok next question! (you're gonna get sick of me soon!)

How hot do these things get? can I enclose them in a hood or would this cause them to overheat? Would they be ok with open ends or would they need some pc fans to vent the hot air?

TBH mate they don't get that hot really, mines enclosed but I have a steel lid, black on one side and polished on the other to conduct the heat, you could just cut some thin slots in the lid if needed to let some heat out.

I wont get sick of questions dude. lol

Yeah, is a lot of soldering, so long as you have a decent one that keeps a good constant heat its all good, all mine are gas so quite reliable, always found the electric ones to be a bit temperamental.

I'll post the write up and pics tomorrow. :)

This tank is now gone guys, got the hump with attempting to trim the HC in a tiny tank so thought I'd get rid and maybe get a TMC 8L at some point.

Thanks for all the kind comments. :)

Good project.
The way you were going I expected you to acquascape a test tube.

Hmmm, may have to scape one of our clear glass Christmas tree balls for a giggle some time, dunno about lighting and filter tho as the heat sink on a single LED is 1.5 inches square. :) I done a scape in a 2" square glass box once. :)

No need for a filter, the plants will do it for you in such a small space, I would think. Now for a fish that small...

Lol, no chance, I had a lonesome Cherry Shrimp in this one for a while but she looked lonely so put her back with the others. :)
