Sorry guys! I must have missed the posts.
Well, after finishing cementing the second chunk with the second coat, I came to the conclusion that I didn't achieve exactly what I wanted. First of all, the cement mix I used didn't have as fine of sand as I had wanted, thereby giving the wall a more rough appearance. I was kind of hoping to have a smoother finish as I'm doing a true biotope, so after a little more searching, I found a more appropriate mix and a couple of techniques that will achieve a smoother finish. Another thing I wasn't happy with was there wasn't enough tunnels and caves. I've now added three more females to the tank, and would probably benefit from more nooks and crannies. Overall it is looking awesome, but I needed to change my design a bit to get exactly what I want and need for this tank in particular.
I have since started a new one, and have been taking photos along the way. I'll try to get some photos up some time this week, hopefully I'll have time, as I'm currently stuck doing jury duty
If someone has a tank with the same dimensions and is willing to pay shipping costs, I will gladly finish cementing the old one, and by all means they can have it. However, it will still need to be cured and coloured (if colour is wanted, but should cost under $10). The finished size will be 35" length and 18-19" height.
Noodle, it doesn't way a lot. When it's finished, it will only be coated with about 0.5-0.75" cement. I'd guess each chunk weighs in and around 10 lbs, but will weigh a piece when I get a chance and post up the results. I'm going to have to do some tests on the weight, as I don't want to silicone it into the tank, so I am going to have to hollow out the bases and fill the cavities with cement to overcome the buoyancy of the styrofoam.
Anyways, check back soon for new photos, and new techniques!
