rock tumblers

hey all im thinking of purchasing a rock tumbler and polishing my own rocks i heard they are inexpensive and i think i could make some pretty cool ones for my tanks. has anyone ever tried this or know about tumblers? any advice would be great.

Two words: TIME CONSUMING. And a smilie!

My grandfather had one back in the day. Took a long time for them to finish up. And it wasn't a whole lot of material. You could do it, but it's going to take some patience. But I think you could get an awesome looking substrate doing so. So, it all depends on the size of your tank, and how long you're willing to wait for all of it to finish.

thanks for the reply i think i will get one and keep people posted. i have a great deal of time to do it so ill give it a shot if i can find a decent priced one.
