Hey,

I was wondering who here secured their rock via glue, epoxy ect zipties pvc ect and how they like it. does it present problems later on ect....

Ive got epoxy putty and am trying to figure out if I want to use it. I want my rock secure and not falling over but I like the versatility of the lego like pieces. some of the pieces fit together nicely and securely but Im not sure if I want to realllllly set it in stone hehe ok stupid I know. hehe

soooooo what do you all do and what results have you gotten from it good bad... ehhh

I was annoyed about the lack of options i had because fo the size and shapes of my rock so I took my two longest most aqward pieces and hammared them into 5 smaller pieces.. I like my options now.

soo what do you all think? pics comming soon as my diatoms have started and I can see 3 or so corals or the like on some of my rock...

stats as thus far having just hit the 3 week mark

Temp 78.5
Sg 1.026(my ideal)
Salinity 35

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - .15 (found a dead worm (like the one I found before but much smaller) on a rock .. cleaned it out and off and so bio load temperarily up for the moment)
Nitrate - 2

Alk 300
dKh 12

Calcium 420
Phosphate 0

Diatoms are beginning to cover my rock and I see hair algae just starting in a few places on the glass, coroline algae is starting to brighten and the colors of algae on the rock are starting to brighten... verry pretty though still mostly pastels.. no vibrent as of yet... still waiting.

shouldn't salinity be around 1.024?

i am also wondering if i should just set my rock or use glue. so i'm interested in everyones answers also.

now you have 2 reasons to take the time and post here :p

I try to ony use epoxy putty to secure coral frags to rocks and to secure really stubborn smaller rocks in my rock stack because like you said, its limiting later on if you want to re-aquascape. Superglue isnt that bad cause you can usually get it to release if you use it sparingly. A GREAT idea is to create your own concrete pins to hold rock together or to use stainless steel rod to hold them together. I prefer the stainless rod cause in the end its easier to work with. Basically just make small rods two inches long or more, drill a thin hole in the LR where you want to secure it and voila, instant LR on a toothpick :D. I've only done this with one of my rocks since I only just learned of it but it works great.

I use good old gravity and smaller pieces of base rock as wedges :good:

Not very technical I know

Putty for my frags, just stacking for my rocks.

OK..puddle..my pet peeve:

1.024 is NOT salinity..it is specific gravity......read up.
