rock decorations

Hi has anyone got any idea if i can pick up some rocks/stones from local garden centre etc and somehow clean them well enough to put into my aquarium?
is this possible as it would save alot of maney

it is possible!

put th rocksin vinegar
if they fizz(little bubbles come up) do NOT use them
they will affect the water

if they dont boil them and put them in the tank

I used to collect sand stone off the moors,
Never once had any problems with it.

Thanks for the replys,when u say put in vinegar u mean a small peice of the rock i guess??
I've aquired a couple of york stone type patio slabs which i will break up and test tommorow

lol, i took a couple of rocks from my garden and boiled them and scrub them really good. They started fizzing but i think its cause there were air pockets. but that ended after 5-10 minutes.

Didnt make a difference, my fish are still kickin it in their tank with a nice rock cave
