we are considering buying a ro system (ro-man ro-300-tds, for eg) we want one with good flow rate , around 300 gpd.
has anybody got any experiance with this or similar unit?
our water changes will average at 17 gallons.
thanks for any advice

 Wow, thats a big RO unit... I dont have any experience with units that big, but if I may ask, how big is your tank?

hi
the tank holds 70 uk gallons.
we dont want to wait for hours to get the water for water changes.
time is money!
cheers

I thought only 10% water changes? meaning you should only need 7 gallons at a time, providing water level is kept up.

i've read in a few books that recommend 15-25% every two weeks!
there does seem to be differing opinions. i know it depends a lot on type/amount of live stock but i thought i would average it out to 20% or 14 gallons.
cheers

Yeah there's many methods for waterchanges. I personally do 10% every week as opposed to 20% every two weeks. Thats getting down to matters of oppinion though. Also remember, water changes need to be planned ahead cause the water has to be mixed with salt and stirred with a powerhead for at least 4 hours and prefferably 12-24 hours before you add it to the tank.

I would get a smaller unit and add a storage tank to it. Cheaper and better quality. For instance I run a 75 gpd unit with a 30 gal pressure tank. I can instantly get the 30 gals and if I need it in an emergency I can get 100 gals in 24 hrs.
