Rip Sparkle, Oscar, Spikey And Cameo

So Sorry for your Loss.
I have had this happen with a tank of Females and for the life of my cannot remember the name of the diease. I used to call it Body Rot. Never successfully treated a betta with it, as they went down so fast with it.

Ohh mai gosh!!! I am so sorry for your loss. :( Sparkle & Asterix were wonderful Bettas. *cries* Also.... What happened to Lunar? I noticed that you didn't mention him.... He died also, I'm assuming? :(

Huhhhhh.... *le sighs* Sometimes these things just happen. You think you're lucky, and then karma or whatever comes back and hits you full-force in the face. :( I had my new green female Betta die this past Sunday, also (I think she drowned, because her head was stuck in the rocks), and, welllllll.... It wasn't awesome, that's one thing for sure. :(

Anyways, sorry for your loss. xxxx If Cameo lives, what'll you keep him in? :D

I'd say that you just chuck the filter media, plants, and gravel; the divider, other ornaments (if they're kinda hard to wash then you may wanna toss them out, too), and the tank can probably be safely cleaned, but the filter might have to be tossed, too. -.-; If it was tuberculosis, in Bettas it's a very fast killer, and you'll have to throw out absolutely *everything* because, supposedly, bleach and sunlight don't kill that nasty bug. I'm sorry. :(

I hate when other peoples' (and my own, of course :p ) Bettas die!!!!! It's horrible!!!!!! DX<

I'd say that if Cameo lives, you just keep him. ^^; If he dies.... :( Well, maybe get another Betta? :) Just one; it might help you with your grief. :D

Anyways; sorry again. xxxx I hope you can go on? :(

Lunar died 2 months ago of old age,he was living in the community tank.

ATM Cameo is in isolation, but he doesnt look too good. :/

Do tell me your joking, does bleach not kill TB? I hope it does, because i wont be able to afford buying everything again

No fish will be going into the tank till the new year, i need a break :/ I know this is thinking ahead too fast, but maybe a betta sorority? Not sure -_-

I just had to euthanise Cameo an hour ago. He looked really bad yesterday, and today he had somesort of white growth on his fins.

:rip: Boys, im so sorry, i couldn't help you all in anyway, what ever happened, happened too quick. You will all be missed :(

I'm so sorry about your fish :(

From what I've read, TB cannot be killed with bleach. I have one tank with guppies that *may* have it. All of the guppies have an issue of slowly wasting and then I've had to euthanize them. Right now I'm treating the tank with worm meds hoping that they instead have parasites.

All my bettas are in their own tanks, but IMO, even doing that can result in TB being spread if hands or equipment are put into more than one tank. Maybe just get one 5-gallon with a filter/heater and small cover? With my son's tank, I did that and have just a regular lamp over the tank for light.

Anyhow, I thought fish TB was rare, but possibly not.

There is only a minute chance that it is TB, as you said its very rare. Im thinking more on the lines of Columnaris (sp?)

As experienced members have said these are the same symptoms as what happened to there fish with that particular illness.

I keep hearing about TB so I've become paranoid about it.

What generally causes columaris? Is it water quality that increases the chances a fish will contract it? Is the tank you had your bettas in cycled? I'm just curious b/c I'm still cycling all my betta tanks (fish-in cycles).

TBH i dont know for sure, but yeh water quality is the main thing.
My water stats were fin, and the tank was cycled since around July i think, i used some old cycled media so that quickened it up. :/

Can't seem to pinpoint what it actually was. *sigh*

uh, so frustrating, huh? Watching all my guppies get sick (many needing to be euthanized - I even took a few back to the pet store and made them do it since they sold me the sick fish - one had camallanus worms :() without any concrete answers has been such a weight on my shoulders.

Well, my advice for sure is to do seperate tanks. Having individual 5.5 gallons can be pricey, but it helps IF something is introduced into the tank so not all fish catch it (and having seperate sypons, etc.) One of my bettas just has the lid rather than a light/hood added on and just a heater & filter. This has saved some $ especially since he's been sickly since the beginning and I didn't want to contaminate a lot of equipment.

Best of luck.
