Rip Pet Rat

Sadly, one of our pet rats, marilyn, who was due to become ten months old soon passed away in the night. he became suddenly ill a little over 24 hours ago and so we took him to see the vet on an emergency appointment last night.

the vet advise he had serious pnuemonia advising it was touch and go for the little guy giving him a steroid injection and some fluids under the skin.

However this proved to fail in the middle of the night. with him being the first rat, he is a special one and we are sad to see him go.

Poor thing. Unfortunately, respiratory problems in rats are disturbingly common.

Are your other rats doing okay?

sorry for the delay in replying, I have moved recently and will not be till the weekend (fingers crossed) that internet access beyond my mobile phone will be possible (or at the maw n paws like now - had to eat)

Was named Marilyn by debs, after Marilyn Manson.

One of the other boys is showing light signs of a problem and one of the girls too (along with developing an eye infection which we were at the vets tonight for grr) so all rats are being treated with Bayril to try and curb it in the bud for the next two weeks.
