My little orange guppy passed away after fighting some sort of issue. He was tail clamping BAD, and his fins started to rot. Then, yesterday, his spine bent and he was swimming in wobbly circles, out of control and sometimes upside down. He never grew,s o maybe something was wrong with him alla long? I am going to watch the other two guppies like a hawk before I think about replacing him though. Any ideas as to what went wrong? He got really thin towards the end.

sounds like he was crippled, his inside grew, but not his outside. sorry. :rip: apollo

Thanks for the kind words on Apollo's behalf. I really hope that was all that was wrong with him, it would be horrible if the other two guppies caught whatever he had. He was a runty little guy, so maybe you are right.

It could have been TB... Keep a close eye on the other fish just in case.

R.I.P. little baby :byebye:

Yeah...I was thinking the same thing as 3fsh. Fish TB. :/ Watch the other tankmates, because they can catch that too, if that's what it is.

And sorry about Apollo. I'm sure he was happy in the time he got to live with you, a great fish owner. :rip:

i do have an explanation of why i think he was crippled. i can't remember, but there is a certain disease where it makes your insides grow, but not ur outside. and because of that, what ever the creature is, in ur case a fish, he died.

A disease? That's what happens supposedly when you stunt your fish. But how would that make his spine curve? Or his fins clamp?

Spine curving is a classic sign of TB. Along with other diseases, though TB is more commonly the cause of it. Clamped fins is also a sign of TB, along with loss of appetite, and shrunken stomach. Sounds like these signs fit her Guppy...unfortunatly. :/ Though it sounds like he had a few other problems...like fin rot. Poor guy.

This sounds like a swimbladder problem, could be related to the fact that he was stunted. You're right to keep an eye on the others before introducing any other fish though. Sorry that you lost him, stunted fish never seem to live as long. :(

yes, but the spine being bent could mean alot of things. what i think, if he was crippled, his spine got to big and bent. there fore being crippled. i do not want this to be an arguing thread. i am just statin what i think was caused his young death.

Thanks, all. He had been clamping fins ad acting sickly for at least a week, and so far the others have not shown any signs, I really REALLY hope it was not TB, I thought this myself, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

RIP buddy
