Hi guys,
After much debate Im sort of heading towards the juwel rio 125 as my new tank.
Thing is Im not keen on the cabinet that it sits on for style or storage.

As space is at a premium I'd like to maximise the storage potential underneath the new tank.
My idea was to sit the new tank on a set of Malm Ikea draw units, (same colour as the tank - a dark oak) but at 125 kgs Im not sure.

Has anyone else used these Malm units in this way ?
They are a very sturdy unit.
I've sat on them and no probs (although i dont weigh 18 stone !!)

Thanks

if you feel confident that its sturdy enough then go for it.. but if anything happens dont call me  ts not hard to guess what would hold and what wouldnt IMO

Personally I wouldn't chance it, not with that weight.

TV stands are designed to hold more weight, may be worth considering one of them - although most I've seen tend to go up to 100kg.

go for it! ( thats you and the bread knife  ) the stand i have a 350L on upstairs is a bit wobbley, but never given me any grief, i rekon you will be fine, but like i said, dont call me ;)

fluval 125l base cuboards

there about £60 from pets at home but don't know if it would be the right dimensions

You may need to get some hardboard to go on the top to measure the exact length of the tank or else there will be nothing to support the weight at either end, although it may only be 0.5cm either side, it could still cause the base of the tank to crack.

Why not get the fluval tank to match the stand?

haven't been able to check out a fluval tank out in the flesh so to speak.. no one seems to stock em
i also like the idea of the heater / filter etc in one box to the side (juwel) .. dont think the fluval do this design do they ?

Not usually, the fluval filters are pretty quiet and yes externals are much better than internal filters, you can fill them up with more media, easier to clean out without messing up the tank, plus it leaves you with extra space inside the tank!
