before you put your regular sand (not Live) in the tank for the first time, do you rinse it? A couple of people have said they don't, they just let the filters clean up the tank for them. Would this mess up my Canister Filters? They are Cascade 1500's. I would like to lay the sand down before i put the rock in. But since I'm tryin to rush the rock in, i may have no choice but to lay it on the glass bottom :S

Hopefully there's no "Thumbsplitter" hitchhikers that snuff my hand while i'm putting in a piece of rock

I rinsed the playsand in my FW tank, but not the sand for my SW tank. On the sand bag, it just said to put it in water and stir it really well to get all the air bubbles out. I'd turn off the filter and let some sand settle and then turn the filter back on.

well, on my bag it says "No Plastic Coatings, Safe for Fresh or Saltwater, Rinse before use"

A friend of mine told me he rinsed the hell out of his white sand and it still took forever, so it would be nice just to let my filters take care of it and use my precious 3gph to fill up my tank
