It does take time hun, as long as he is still interested then leave them too it. I know its hard wating but it can take up to 4 days for it to happen some times longer. Your girl will hide and run then all of a sudden she will swim out bold as brass right up under his nest. Bite your lip hun and wait it out

I think my male betta is gay

he flared for about 5 mins, then got bored. I havnt seen him flare since then and there are NO bubbled.

MG x black orchid should actually be a really good cross. You'll probably get mg's and blacks and everything in between. I have a male I'm trying to breed right now that I bet came from that combination... it wouldn't be too much of a shame to bring more of him into the world.

No more news, same as it's been all day but neither of them are injured in any way, he's being very good with her, and I am hoping that I get fry exactly like that ^^^^ boy up there, it's what I have pictured in my mind anyway

Update is that nothing still happened, been alone together since 9am yesterday morning, so I've removed half the cover now and he can see her easier so hopefully lots a tings gwan very soon!!! Also just set up my brine shrimp hatchery too

mabey hes not aggressive enough. the pair i just spawned from took a week to finaly do something, the female seemed like she was inviting him to chase her but he was too soft. i showed him his reflection to rile him up a bit, and the following day there was spawnage

He is flaring and chasing but does seem to be giving up all too easy on her

I'll see how the day goes now I've removed some hiding areas

Tell me - if you wait a week, you carry on feeding them in the tank?

Also some of the bubbles on his nest are merging and making much bigger bubbles, is that ok? He don't seem to be adding to it at all but it's definitely a big nest already

yeh i kept feeding them, when distracted with food, they dont bother each other it seems. i wasnt feeding them as much as i normaly would

No idea what's going on in there, she is still barred up, just sitting there in full view of him. He goes and flares at her every now and again but nothing very exciting. I've only checked a few times today, they might have done it already, but would she still be barred up if they had?

i think they go back to being plain coloured when they finnished as a sign to the male that they are done. lol, ive only spawned from one dark female that showed bars so mabey it was just her
